AbstractDouble delta wing configurations are widely employed for jet fighters, supersonic aircraft and Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs) due to its superior aerodynamic performance at high angles of attack. The main feature of the flow is the presence of both strake and wing vortices. At low angles of attack the vortices remain separate, whereas for flows at higher angles of attack the two vortices interact, coil-up, merge, and vortex breakdown develops. Therefore, this study was carried out investigating vortex interactions over a 70˚/50˚ double delta wing (with kink at 50% chord location), and ultimately investigating active and passive flow control methods for their impact on double delta wing aerodynamics.
