Digital interventions are growing in popularity due to their flexibility, cost-effectiveness and efficacy. ‘Tired of Cancer’ have developed a mobile health intervention to support people with cancer-related fatigue (CRF), called the Untire app. To date, there has been no qualitative analysis of people’s experience of using the Untire app. This study aims to better understand how people experience the Untire app and identify the barriers and facilitators to engagement. The findings are intended to inform future updates to the Untire app.Participants were recruited to a longitudinal study investigating the acceptability of the Untireapp. Participants who used the app for at least four weeks were invited to an interview to provide feedback. Qualitative interviews were completed online. Inductive thematic analysis was used to analyse the data. All participants (n =16) provided positive feedback, whilst also acknowledging areas for development. Four themes were identified; 1. CRF is a collection of symptoms that vary from person to person, day to day. 2. The Untire app “What’s good about it?” 3. The interface between app usage and fatigue. 4. Personalising the Untire app.This study provides information about how people experience the Untire app. The study identifies factors that help people engage with the app, and interventions for CRF more broadly. Areas for development have been recognised, including early provision of psychoeducation about fatigue and the importance of personalising apps and incorporating social support.
