AbstractThe object of study in this thesis are branching diffusions which arise as stochastic models for evolving populations.Our focus lies on studying branching diffusions in which particles or, more generally, mass gets killed upon exiting a ball. In particular, we investigate the way in which populations can survive within a ball and how the mass evolves upon its exit from an increasing sequence of balls.
