Abstract

The single crystal X-ray structure of the pentagonal bipyramidal nickel (II) complex [NiII(L)(H20)2](BF 4)2 involving the quinquedentate macrocyclic ligand L is reported; electrochemical reduction of a series of related nickel(II) complexes [NiII(L)X2] (BF4)2 yields in solution d9 nickel (I) species.
