Abstract
To achieve its economic and social development goals, the Uzbek government has established a vibrant transnational education sector. At the start of 2024, Uzbekistan had 38 transnational higher education institutions of which 30 are international branch campuses. This has resulted in the country becoming host to the third largest number of international branch campuses globally, behind only China and the United Arab Emirates. This article considers why and how Uzbekistan implemented its transnational education strategy.
