Abstract
We developed a new post-treatment method to induce hydrophobization of spin-on Silicalite-1 films during the removal of the organic template. It consists of a wide-band UltraViolet irradiation combined with thermal activation. Hydrophobization of the film is obtained because the UV-treatment decreases drastically the quantity of silanols. Methylation of the silica surface is obtained by decomposition and reaction of the organic tetrapropylammonium template of the zeolite. The formation of cracks during the removal of the organic template is minimized. The characterization is done by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, contact angle measurement, ellipsometric determination of refractive index and scanning electron microscopy.
