Abstract

An all-optical, ultra-fast, polarization insensitive broadband intensity modulator using the Raman effect has produced 10 Gb/s (capable of >100 Gb/s) selective pulse erasure. In addition to header erasure this flexible, all-optical technique can shape pulses and create dark pulses.
