Abstract

A pharmacokinetic model has been formulated to assess the potential of transdermal drug delivery to preterm infants. The permeability of the skin in these infants is high and this route of administration may prove a suitable means of delivering many drugs. Theoretical equations show how the rate of drug delivery influences the plasma levels of the topically applied drugs.
