Abstract

Strontium ferrate(IV), SrFeO, crystallizes with a tetragonal unit cell, I4 mmm, a = 3.8642(1), c = 12.3968(2) Å, and V = 185.1 Å. The structure of this compound is of the KNiF type as refined by Rietveld analysis of powder X-ray diffraction data. This material contains iron(IV) in a very slightly distorted octahedral environment (4 × 1.93) + (2 × 1.95).
