* This article contains the fmt findings of a research project on the Lega Lombarda-Lega Nord financed by the British Academy in July 1992. Interviews with Lombard League representatives (including MP R. Castelli) in Milan, Bergamo, Como, Erba, and Abbadia Lariana and detailed electoral data surveys were carried out by the author in September 1992.
