The international financial crisis and its impact on the Slovak Banking Sector

Biatec is the journal of the Slovak National Bank. This paper examines the current risks facing Slovak banking – the bulk of whose business is conducted by foreign banks or their Slovak subsidiaries. Thus Slovak banking is vulnerable to losses arising not just in Slovakia but also in the banks` countries of origin. It will be difficult to agree how the costs of some bailouts are to be apportioned.
