Abstract

Alternating and orthogonal (LiNCN)2 eight membered rings and (LiO)2 four‐membered rings are linked through common Li atoms to form polymeric strands in the crystal structure of the title compound. The Li complex of the anion of PhNHCN is formed by extrusion of N2 and S from aminothiatriazole 1 with Li bases such as LiOH, MeOLi, and LiNH2 in the presence of hexamethyl phosphoric triamide (HMPA); however, the mechanism for this reaction is not yet clear.
