Abstract
The cluster [Os6(CO)20] reacts with molecular oxygen to give [Os6(μ3-O)(μ3-CO)(CO) 18], which has been shown by an X-ray analysis to contain an Os 6 raft, the central triangle of which is capped on one side by an O atom and on the other by a carbonyl group; this oxygenated cluster reacts with P(OMe) 3 to yield the clusters [Os6(CO) 21-n{P(OMe)3}n] (n = 1-6) and the cluster [Os6(CO)20] also reacts with acetylene to give [Os 4(CO)12(C2H2)] and [Os 5(CO)13(C2H2)2] and with hydrogen sulphide to give [H2Os3(CO)9S].
