Abstract

The synthesis and single crystal X-ray structure of the pentagonal bipyramidal nickel(II) complex [Ni(L)(EtOH)2](BF4)2 involving the quinquedentate terpyridyl macrocyclic ligand L is reported; the electrochemical reduction of such complexes yields, in solution, d9 nickel(I) species.
