Abstract

The reaction of [HOs₃(CO)₁₁]^-11 with [Os₃(CO)₁₀(MeCN)₂] in acetone gives the green-blue anion [HOs₃(CO)₁₀·O₂C·Os₆(CO)₂₀]^- (1) amongst several other products; this anion has been structurally characterised by a single crystal X-ray study of its Bu₄P⁺ salt.
