Abstract

This paper presents a review of optical routing of analogue Radio-over-Fibre signals using semiconductor optical amplifier based switch arrays. Switching of single-service, multiple-service and mixed (RF and digital) signals is demonstrated to cause negligible penalty, and indicates that multi-cast operation is feasible.
