Abstract

A new model for the structure of gallobicchulite, Ca8(Ga2SiO6)4(OH)8, has been derived from a combined refinement of EXAFS and neutron powder diffraction data. The structure is based on a pseudocubic ordered unit cell, related to that of tugtupite, with long-range disorder owing to domains in three orientations parallel to the cubic faces.
