Abstract

This brief report will describe 'technologies and standards' which we consider to be important for emerging networked library services, and discuss some issues which need to be addressed. In Section 1, we present one possible view of the virtual library, and outline the services that will be required to bring it about. Subsequent sections describe these services. These sections are: Section 3: Communications services; Section 4: Applications services; Section 5: Data interchange services; Section 6: Meta-information services; Section 7: Authentication, charging and other services. Recommendations are presented in a concluding section.
