Abstract
Globalhealth education is a growing feature of international and national medical schools. In Italy the Italian Network for Global Health Education (RIISG - Rete Italianaper l'Insegnamento della Salute Globale) promotes its teaching in both medical and nonmedical schools. Global health teaching is meant to integrate not only academic curricula with specific subjects but also to introduce a new way of thinking and acting by improving health provider knowledge, attitudes and practices in order to produce a change in the whole society. Faced with the inadequacy of the current university system in shaping health care professionals responding to the needs of the community the Italian Network promotes a public debate about a new health education.
