Abstract
A series of metal-substituted poly-yne polymers that are soluble in most organic solvent and form thin films that are suitable for photophysical measurements has been prepared. The absorbance spectra of the systems show that the band gap is dependent on the nature of the organic space group within the poly-yne. The band gap may be reduced by using an electron withdrawing space group.
