Abstract

The regenerative optical routing using a combined sampled-grating DBR lasers and 16×16 arrayed waveguide gratings (AWG) was discussed. An input power dynamic range (IPDR) of about 10 dB was demonstrated for the router. Q factor measurements as a function of received power showed that for low received power where the S/N ratio was poor, a good improvement in the signal quality was achieved because of regeneration.
