Abstract
The Youth Justice Sports Fund (YJSF) was an initiative funded by the Ministry of Justice (UK) that sought to support community projects across England and Wales that use sport to enhance positive outcomes for vulnerable young people. The funding facilitated voluntary and community sports organisations to undertake targeted work supporting children and young people aged 10–17 years, who were identified as being ‘at-risk’ of involvement in crime, antisocial behaviour, and/or serious violence. The YJSF also aimed to build the capability of sport sector delivery organisations to work effectively with their local criminal justice partners (e.g. Youth Justice Services, Police and Police Crime Commissioners/Violence Reduction Units). This chapter provides a summary of YJSF and focuses specifically on the extent to which the utilisation of a consistent Theory of Change across the project enhanced organisational capacity within the sport and criminal justice sector.
