Abstract
Reaction of the mixed-metal alkyne-bridged complexes [(η5-C5H5)(OC)2M{μ-C 2(CO2Me)2}Co(CO)3] (M=Mo or W) with Ph2PCCtBu in refluxing toluene gives the complexes [(η5-C5H5)(OC)2M{μ- tBuCCC(CO2Me)=C(CO2Me)PPh 2}Co(CO)2], [(η5-C5H5)(OC)2M{μ-C 2(CO2Me)2}Co(CO)2(Ph 2PCCtBu)] (M=Mo or W) and [(η5-C5H5)(OC)W{μ-C(CO 2Me)=C(CO2Me)CCtBu}(μ-PPh 2)Co(CO)2]. The structures of the two complexes, [(η5-C5H5)(OC)2Mo{μ- tBuCCC(CO2Me)=C(CO2Me)PPh 2}Co(CO)2] and [(η5-C5H5)(OC)W{μ-C(CO 2Me)=C(CO2Me)CCtBu}(μ-PPh 2)Co(CO)2], have been determined by X-ray analysis. Possible reaction pathways for the formation of the new complexes are proposed and discussed.
