Abstract
The dihydrido-cluster [Os5(CO)15H2] reacts with R1C≡CR2 [R1 = H, R2 = Ph; R1 = R2 = Ph] to produce a number of acetylenic cluster complexes based on the Os5 unit, two of which have been characterised spectroscopically and by single crystal X-ray analyses as [Os 5(CO)15H2(CCPh)] and [Os5(CO) 13(PhCCPh)2], containing a 'wing-tip bridged butterfly' and an 'edge-bridged butterfly' metal framework, respectively.
