Abstract

We report a study of the cascadability of QD-SOAs in a recirculating loop, showing that it is possible to cascade 15 SOAs before error free operation is lost. Furthermore, a monolithically integrated QD-SOA based add-drop switch is reported which exhibits very low (<0.1dB) path dependent switching power penalty.
