Abstract

In this chapter we discuss the issues regarding the prevention of IPED use. First, we position prevention in the context of enhancement, harm and fair play. We consider the principles of prevention and appraise the extent to which prevention approaches targeting sporting and non-sporting populations will converge or diverge. Finally, we examine the extant evidence on IPED prevention approaches in sport and non-sporting contexts and discuss the implications of this evidence base moving forwards.
