Abstract
Power-dependent generation of visible radiation in photonic crystal fibers (PCF) was investigated using coupling femtosecond pulses. Two bands of visible radiation were generated by temporal pulse splitting of the fundamental pulse. The visible radiation generated is dependent on the polarization state of the input pulse coupled into the photonic crystal fiber. The third harmonic components, which appear at the output of the PCF as higher order modes, are guided in the core of the fiber by comparing the experimentally imaged near-field profile and the calculated mode.
