Abstract

[Pt(Me₂bipy)Cl₂] (Me₂bipy = 4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridine) and HC≡CC₆H₄-4-R react in the presence of diisopropylamine and CuI as catalyst to give the platinum bis-acetylides [Pt(Me₂bipy)(C≡CC₆H₄-4-R)₂] R = H, Me, NO₂. Initial spectroscopic, electrochemical and reactivity studies are presented.
