Abstract

TiCl mediated addition of 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran to (2-trimethylsilyl)ethyl pyruvate results in a one-pot addition-cyclisation sequence to deliver a functionalised perhydrofuro[2,3-b]pyran derivative in good yield.
