Abstract
The three dimensionality of the leading-edge vortex (LEV) generated by a plunging wing is explored both numerically and experimentally. Good agreements are found between the numerical results and experimental results. It is found that the vortex-induced motion and the vortex-pair instability are the main causes of three dimensional LEV.
