Abstract
This article analyses the strategy of US Democratic Party on the problem of nuclear weapons in North Korea. By using the theories of deterrence by Herman Kahn and Reinhard Selten it argues that unless the US moves from its strategic patience focused on denuclearisation of North Korea into negotiation on North Korea's growing nuclear warfighting capacity, North Korea may test the credibility of US extended deterrence on the Korean Peninsula.
