Abstract
The suppression of interchannel interferometric crosstalk and reduction of extinction-ration induced power penalty are realized by nonlinear switching in a dispersion-imbalanced fiber loop mirror. Nonlinear filtering provides data extraction from a completely degraded signal, at a crosstalk level up to -3 dB. The method is effective at any delay between the signal and crosstalk, including total overlapping.
