Abstract
This volume consists of 15 chapters by scholars from three continents who look at Ramondino's work from different theoretical and critical traditions. Three big themes traverse the volume: the first is travel and identity, the second is writing and intertextuality, both of which are intertwined with the third theme, the author's own life and the life of those whom she meets during her travels.
In analysing these themes, the volume throws new light on Ramondino's relationship with Proust, Ortese and Morante, proposes new comparisons with other authors such as Caravaggio, Lessing e Magris, and brings into sharp relief, for the first time in Italy, the multifarious nature of her oeuvre and the importance and orginality of her aesthetic and political project. This also helps to locate Ramondino more precisely within the Italian literary landscape as one of the major writers of the second part of the 20th Century.
