Abstract

Non- and β-nucleated PP alloys with PA6 were prepared in an internal mixer. PP-g-MA, POE-g-MA and EVA-g-MA were used as a compatibilizer, respectively. Effects of PA6 content, the compatibilizer type and melting temperatures on the non-isothermal crystallization and melting behavior, β-PP content were investigated by DSC and WAXD. The results indicate that the addition of PA6 increases the crystallization temperature (T c) of PP for its α-nucleating effect. However, PA6 hardly influences the T c of PP for β-PP/PA6 alloy with high content of β-PP obtained. Addition of PP-g-MA, POE-g-MA and EVA-g-MA into β-nucleated PP/PA6 alloy also increases the β-PP content. Moreover, the β-PP content in β-nucleated PP/PA6 alloy is dependent of melting temperatures, which increases with the increase in the melting temperature.
