Abstract
The book's focus is on agricultural change, particularly on how the types of technology and management practice necessary for sustainable improvement in agricultural productivity among small-scale, low-income farmers might best be developed. Institutionally, its focus is primarily on the work of nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in this sphere, but also on that of government research and extension services and, importantly, on the scope for closer interaction between the two.
