Nicotine & Tobacco Research is Moving to Online-Only Publication

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Two changes to the journal, one major and one relatively minor, mean that we are in the unusual position of having two editorials in this issue of the journal.

First, Nicotine & Tobacco Research will move to online-only publication beginning January 2019; the December 2018 edition will be the last printed issue. The concept of the scientific journal is over 400 years old, but the basic format has changed little in that time. Recently, however, authors have begun to make much more use of online functionality such as supplementary material, allowing far greater detail to be presented, while retaining the concision of the main article. Printed issues, therefore, however pleasing to read with a coffee, increasingly present only a proportion of our full journal content. Content will still be grouped in “issues” in this online-only format, although we will continue to publish articles online almost immediately upon acceptance (initially as uncorrected proofs, then as corrected proofs), before assigning them to an issue. These are increasingly thematic, grouping related articles together, so you may wish to subscribe for free to the journal’s e-mail table of contents alerts for each issue (if you do not already!) via https://academic.oup.com/my-Account/Register.
