The proposal consists in the adaptation of the Market House into a Craft Training and Sustainability Research Centre. The crafts that could be learned are:

• Earthen construction techniques
• Thatching

The space would host a permanent exhibition of the history and importance of Irish market houses (with a special section on the history of Newtownbutler’s Market House and Lanesborough Hotel) and a library with material specialized in craftsmanship and sustainability topics open to all public.
