Abstract
Library and information science professionals are having to address the considerable implications of the rapid development of networking on a national and international scale. Focusing on strategy and policy, rather than technology, the papers presented at this conference draw on the major themes of: the influence of networking on library operations; the move towards the "virtual library"; awareness of networking in the library community; and the importance of educating the end user.
