Abstract

This work examined a new approach to providing protection for the power supply network by monitoring the propagation of the high frequency transients through the network. It builds on techniques previously developed to protect feeder circuits and is able to provide details of the location of the fault wherever it occurs on the network. The operation of the scheme is demonstrated using simulation studies of a distribution feeder network. Its speed of operation and accuracy in locating faults is demonstrated
