Abstract

This special session explores the challenges, opportunities, and trade-offs associated with adhering to and adapting methodological conventions in operations and supply chain management (OSCM) research conducted in underrepresented contexts, particularly operations and supply chain environments in Africa. The session presents institutional, resource, and publication-related challenges encountered by researchers, particularly Africa-based scholars, and discusses potential solutions through methodological adaptation. Through presentations and panel discussions, the session aims to enhance understanding among researchers, editors, and reviewers and support more inclusive, context-sensitive OSCM knowledge development.
