Abstract

This paper centres on the discursive strategies of legitimation used to achieve field-level institutional repair in Serious Case Review (SCR) reports of fatal child maltreatment in the United Kingdom (UK). It presents a comparative case study of SCR reports published from 2013–2018 in the UK. Given their focus on fatal child maltreatment each SCR represents an extreme case.
