Abstract

Traveling and vacations are activities that are often associated with adventure, enjoyment, relaxation and recuperation. However, for those managing a food allergy these situations can provoke anxiety. In this article we provide an overview of the research that particularly pertains to the challenges of airline travel and of taking vacations in unfamiliar setting. We consider both the avoidance of allergens and the treatment of anaphylaxis. Comprehensive advice as to how best to prepare for travel and vacations is provided.
