Abstract

Inset Dielectric Guide (IDG), which is simply a rectangular slot filled with dielectric material, was proposed as a practical evolution from Image Line with the potential for easier manufacture and improved performance. IDG as an antenna medium seems to offer particular promise. It is easy to lay thin metal strips on the air-dielectric interface that act as dipole radiators to form integrated leaky wave arrays. Following the successful design and realization of a 23-element vertically polarized array in a deep slot, in this paper we present a novel 15-element array with horizontal polarization.
