Light amplification at 650nm in a polymer waveguide with dye-doped cladding

Abstract

An optical waveguide amplifier is fabricated in SU8 polymer with a cladding layer of dye-doped PMMA. Gain of 15dB is achieved for a 650nm signal, with a low threshold pump intensity of 0.25μJ/mm2.
