Abstract
Primary schools (and geography teaching within them) are seen as crucial if good (i.e. ‘sustainable’) habits and behaviours are to be inculcated in pupils at an early
age. Here, starting from the notion that it is learning that matters rather than behaviour change, the article examines seven propositions, each of which has implications for primary geography practice.
