Abstract

Laser Iinewidth measurements have been carried out using a novel form of unbalnced fibre Mach-Zehnder interferometer, in which the interference signal is frequency shifted by an optical amplifier, using a resonating electrical feedback loop. This method offers stable, high sensitivity measurement of the linewidths of coherent laser sources.
