Abstract

The hydrolysis of [Pt(PPh3)2(O2)] with non-co-ordinating acids leads to the formation of [Pt2(O 2)(OH)(PPh3)4][X] (1) (X = ClO4, PF6, BF4, NO3), and then [Pt 2(OH)2(PPh3)4][X]2 (2), with a stepwise loss of H2O2; the structure of (1) has been confirmed by an X-ray analysis.
