Abstract

The cluster [Os₄(CO)₁₂(C₉H₆)] (1) has been isolated from the reaction of [Os₃(CO)₁₂] with indene in nonane under reflux; X-ray analysis has shown that (1) has a 'butterfly' metal framework while the indyne group interacts with the metal atoms via two σ-bonds and two π-bonds.
