Abstract

This Introduction to 'Cli-Fi: A Companion', a collection of 29 short essays on key works of the new genre of climate change fiction and film, begins by defining the term 'cli-fi' and giving a brief overview of literary production to date. It discusses the aims of authors fictionalising climate change, and the unique challenges they face, and outlines the main approaches and forms adopted. It ends with recommendations for teachers of university courses on climate change fiction.
