Abstract

Why did we do the survey?
The survey was conducted to try and capture industry perspectives on the use of EPDs and other environmental data sources for building LCA. Additionally, we were interested in the trust and perceived uncertainties in EPDs in order to provide better guidance for improved future EPDs.

Who’s it for?
The survey was targeted at building designers including architects, engineers and sustainability consultants who are conducting LCAs as part of the building design process. We distributed the survey via the RIBA and the FutureBuild email newsletters via LinkedIn and shared it with colleagues and our project steering group to disseminate.

Who should read it?
This survey report is aimed at both academics, practitioners and policymakers to better understand the use of EPDs in a predominantly UK built environment context.
